This multi-authored textbook is offered as a two-volume set, covering the entire spectrum of trauma management. Volume One reviews initial management considerations beginning in the pre-hospital phase, continues through the primary and secondary surveys of the hospital-based evaluation process, and proceeds to the perioperative management of trauma, burns, and associated conditions. Volume Two discusses the entire gamut of critical care management of the trauma patient and also covers common complications and conditions treated in Surgical Intensive Care Units that are not specifically unique to trauma (e.g. sepsis, renal failure, liver failure, etc). The latest developments in each area of trauma management are addressed, and evidence based guidelines are emphasized where such data exists. The book is written in a readable clinically focused fashion, while at the same time providing abundant up-to-date citations for all recommendations and guidelines.
